On the sacred occasion of the 500th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, with the vision and dedication of the great philanthropist Baba Gurmukh Singh Ji, the decision to establish Ramgarhia Educational Council (Regd.) Ludhiana was taken. This initiative marked a significant milestone in the spread of higher education for girls.
Understanding the changing needs of society, the college has continuously introduced new courses, subjects, teaching methodologies, modern equipment, and better facilities. Under the leadership of S. Ranjodh Singh Ji, the current president, the college has become one of the most prestigious institutions in Punjab.
Ludhiana, known as the ‘Manchester of Punjab,’ is an industrial hub, and the college is centrally located in Miller Ganj. Before 1969, there was no institution providing higher education in this area. Girls from Miller Ganj and nearby villages had to discontinue their studies due to the lack of a college. The existing colleges in the city were far away, and parents were hesitant to send their daughters for higher education.
To address this educational gap, the founders and management established this college, initially offering only a B.A. degree with limited resources. Over time, student enrollment increased, leading to expansion:
The college has created an outstanding legacy by achieving excellence at state, national, and international levels in academics, literature, cultural activities, arts, and sports. Students graduate not only with academic knowledge but also with discipline, ethics, and a sense of social responsibility.
The institution actively encourages participation in literary, cultural, and sports activities, offering platforms for students to compete at higher levels. To preserve cultural heritage, the college organizes various seminars and events.
A significant number of students come from economically weaker backgrounds. Inspired by Giani Bhagat Singh Ji’s philosophy that no deserving student should be deprived of higher education due to financial constraints, S. Jagat Singh Ji took the initiative to support such students. Continuing this tradition, the current president, S. Ranjodh Singh, along with the management, principal, social organizations, donors, and government funds, ensures that financial aid is available for students in need.
The college offers state-of-the-art facilities, including:
The institution is driven by a team of highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members who are committed to providing quality education. The college is affiliated with Punjab University, Chandigarh, and continues to focus on the overall development of students, preparing them for a bright future.
